28 July, 2026, Hong Kong – The annual sporting spectacle, the “Victoria Harbour Race 2026”, organized by the Hong Kong China Swimming Association (HKGSA), will take place on the morning of 15 November (Sunday). With 4,000 slots available, online registration opens tomorrow (29 July, Wednesday) at 11:00am and closes on 27 August (Thursday) at 11:59pm. This year’s event once again features the highly popular ‘Team Application’, encouraging swimmers to form teams with family and friends to jointly create an unforgettable experience.

“Victoria Harbour Race 2026” returns with its two signature categories: the “Racing Group” and the “Leisure Group.” Swimmers will set off from the Golden Bauhinia Square Public Pier in Wan Chai and finish at the Tsim Sha Tsui Avenue of Stars, covering a total distance of approximately one kilometer.

The “Leisure Group” will continue to offer the “Team Application” option. Both local and overseas swimmers can form teams of two to four to register and enter the ballot together. Successful teams will be admitted as a group and assigned the same start time*, allowing participants to experience the Victoria Harbour alongside family and friends..

Mr. Ronnie Man-chiu Wong, President of HKGSA, said: “Since the resumption in 2011, the Victoria Harbour Race has evolved over the past 15 years into a signature sporting event in Hong Kong, drawing countless local swimming enthusiasts and top international swimmers in every edition of the race. It is not only a high-level swimming competition, but also showcases Hong Kong’s unique sports culture, and acts as a vital platform for promoting sports for all, as well as fostering community cohesion. As we mark the historic 120th anniversary of Hong Kong’s harbour swim this year, carrying forward a legacy of over a century, we eagerly welcome swimming enthusiasts to join in the celebration and experience firsthand the unmatched charm of swimming across Victoria Harbour.”

Registration for this year’s race opens on 29 July (Wednesday) at 11:00am and closes on 27 August (Thursday) at 11:59pm. All participants must meet the eligibility criteria set by the organizers. *Notes:

The starting time slot will be allocated according to the submitted race results or time trial performance of the participants and their team members. The group’s start time will be determined by the slowest team member’s result.

Hong Kong China Swimming Association (“HKGSA”) was founded in early 1951 by the President, Mr. A. de O. Sales, and it took part for the first time in the Olympic Games in Helsinki 1952 with four swimmers. It was subsequently registered under the Societies Ordinance on 28th April 1960. It is a member of the World Aquatics, Asia Aquatics (AASF) and Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China (SF & OC). It is the sole governing body of swimming sports in Hong Kong covering all swimming, diving, water polo, artistic swimming, open water swimming and masters competitions and activities here.

In the past 75 years, the Association has been promoting and developing swimming sports, thus raising the standard of swimming, nurturing elite swimmers and providing training to athletes, officials, judges and coaches in Hong Kong through organizing different competitions, training courses and relevant teaching activities.
