(Hong Kong, 22 November 2025) The annual sporting spectacle, the “Victoria Harbour Race 2025”, organized by the Hong Kong China Swimming Association (HKGSA), was held successfully today in Victoria Harbour. Over 3,700 participants swam across the harbour, marking a record high since the Race’s revival. As in previous years, the race started from the Wan Chai Golden Bauhinia Square Public Pier and ended at the Tsim Sha Tsui Avenue of Stars, completing a distance of approximately 1 KM.
The gun-firing ceremony of the “Victoria Harbour Race 2025” was officiated by Ms. Rosanna LAW, Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism; Mr. Timothy FOK, President of the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China (SF&OC) and Mr. Ronnie WONG, President of HKGSA; who were joined by Dr. David MONG, Dr. Jimmy WONG and Dr. NG Kin Sun, Vice Presidents of HKGSA, in marking the official opening of the Victoria Harbour Race at 7:30am in the morning.
The Race opened the registration to international swimmers, inviting swimming enthusiasts from around the world to participate in this renowned harbour crossing. Additionally, this year’s event introduced the “Companion Team” enrollment, allowing both local and overseas swimmers to form teams of up to four members, creating a unique opportunity to share a memorable swimming experience.
Participants were divided into seven groups, starting at staggered times. The first to start were swimmers in the Men’s Racing Group, including double silver medallist at the Tokyo Olympics, Arno KAMMINGA from the Netherlands and Adam CHILLINGWORTH, member of the Hong Kong Swimming Team. Hong Kong Team member Ketih SIN was the first to cross the finish line with a time of 17”48.60, with his teammates Ali IP and Jacob KWONG claiming the second and third places.
The Women’s Racing Group was an equally exciting race. Hong Kong representative NIP Tsz Yin was crowned champion with a time of 19”50.83. Siobhan HAUGHEY, winner of two Gold and two Bronze medals in the 15th National Games, who was making waves in the Victoria Harbour Race for the first time, claimed the 2nd place, while Hong Kong representative Nikita LAM finished in 3rd place.
Mr. Ronnie WONG, President of the HKGSA, remarked: “The Victoria Harbour Race is a major annual sports event in Hong Kong, providing swimming enthusiasts with the unique opportunity to swim across the city’s iconic Victoria Harbour. We are grateful for the strong support from various government departments over the years, which has helped establish this unique brand.
